Dr
Ariel Ortiz, Board Certified Mexican medical doctor under license #2526822 whose medical practice is in Mexico,
is a world
renowned expert
on Lap-Band
surgery, having
trained almost
a decade ago
under the designer
of the Lap-Band
Dr Mitiku Belechew.
Dr. Ortiz has
now trained
hundreds of
surgeons around
the world to
perform this
procedure safely
and effectively.
In numerous
occasions he
has been designated
as the professor
of Lap-Band
workshops hosted
by Inamed in
the United
States, Canada
and recently
the first workshop
ever in the
Philippines.
Dr. Ariel Ortiz
is the past president
of the Mexican
Association of
Bariatric Surgery
and is an invited
guest speaker to
numerous lectures
around the world.
He is Director
of Obesity Control
Center which is
one of the busiest
Lap-Band centers
in North America,
and is credited
for innovations
and the opening
of new fields such
as rescuing a failed
gastric bypass
by placing a Lap-Band
over it. Dr. Ortiz
is also a pioneer
on Lap-Banding
for obese teenagers
and other new exciting
fields.
Dr.
Lee Grossbard - Lead
Surgeon
Dr.
Grossbard started
his private practice
in 1984
in Zephyrhills,
FL where he is
currently located.
After attending
Lafayette College,
Easton PA he
then went on
to graduate from
Autonomous University
of Guadalajara,
Guadalajara,
Jalisco, Mexico
with Honors.
His Internship
was completed
at Lutheran Medical
Center, Brooklyn,
New York, and
his Residency
was at Baystate
Medical Center,
Springfield,
Massachusetts.
His Fellowship
was spent in
General Surgery
and Surgical
Critical Care
at James A. Haley,
VA Hospital,
Tampa, FL. Dr.
Grossbard is
a proctor for
Inamed, teaching
the Lap-Band
procedure, as
well as being
a member of the
Medical Executive
Committee for
Inamed. He is
frequently invited
to speak for
various groups
and agencies
as a teacher
and advocate
for the Lap-Band
procedure and
its benefits
to patients.
As a General
and Bariatric
Surgeon, Dr.
Grossbard researched
weight-loss surgery
for himself.
After struggling
with his own
obesity problems,
he decided that
the Lap-Band
surgery was the
right choice.
He was so convinced
with the outcome,
after losing
over 100 lbs.,
he decided to
perform the procedure.
He has now banded
over 200 patients
since 2002.
Dr. Nick Gabriel - Lead Surgeon
Dr. Nick Gabriel currently holds an appointment as the Chief of Minimally Invasive Surgical
Education at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York, and an assistant professor of surgery at New York College of
Osteopathic Medicine. He trained in general surgery at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, an affiliate
of Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and went on to do a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery
at Yale University School of Medicine.
Afterwards, he joined the faculty at Yale, where he taught extensively
and authored several textbook chapters. He returned to Brooklyn, where he serves as Chief of laparoscopic
surgery at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center as well as the Director of Comprehensive Health and Obesity Management
Program (C.H.O.M.P.). Dr. Gabriel has become well known as a weight loss surgeon in the greater New York area.
He was one of the first surgeons to perform Laparoscopic Gastric Band procedures in Long Island and Brooklyn.
He has appeared on the Discovery Health channel and has been featured in "The New York Daily News".
